When shopping, you want to make sure you take the time to come up with a list of needs and wants. After you have that, it’s just a matter at looking at the different models and picking one that fits all your needs and most or all of your wants.

Five Best Tablets for Students

You’re going to have to consider the age of the student before you buy them a tablet computer, of course, but we kept that in mind when preparing the following list.

  1. Google Nexus – You may not think about Google when you think of tablets, but you should. Running the Android operating system, this is a very well rounded tablet that has a lot to offer for a very competitive price.

  2. Lenovo ThinkPad – For something with a great screen that has good battery life, you should check out the Lenovo ThinkPad a little more closely. The display is high resolution and is easy to see in a lot of different light conditions.

  3. Kindle Fire – Some people think this is just an ebook reader, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. With an awesome color screen and many other features – like long battery life – the Kindle Fire is great for students young and old.

  4. Samsung Galaxy – This is basically a bigger version of some of the popular Samsung smartphones, but that’s not a bad thing. The display isn’t the best around, but it has a lot of extra features that make it special.

  5. iPad Air – Last but certainly not least, we have the iPad Air – named because it’s so light and thin. The big drawback to this one is the price, which is very high. Still, it’s a great value when you consider the beautiful design and the reliability of the operating system.

As you can see from the list above, there are a lot of great choices available. As long as you make sure the student you’re buying for is able to use the tablet correctly, you’re not going to run into any major problems. If you have any of your own recommendations for the best tablets for students, be sure to write a comment below and let us know what you think. There’s a lot of tablets out there these days, but some of them are definitely built better than others – even if you have to spend a little more money to get them.

Who Made That Android Logo?

Photo: dailymobile

When Google thought of giving an identity to what they had devised as their strongest innovation which would revolutionize the mobile handheld market, little did they know that their mascot would get dressed up as a superman, batman, hulk, minion and every possible thing that it can get customized into.

The History of the Android Logo and its Designer Irina Blok

While her stint with Google as a designer, Irina Blok got to handle a branding project that got her an opportunity to get her names in the history books. Android was THE next big thing and to be able to do branding design for them was something to pounce on.

The brief

Irina and her team were told that the logo needed to incorporate a robot and the endorsing elements must in totality be very easy to identify for the general masses, since this wasn’t something for the webmasters or the techies. Android was going to be used by every, through geographies and thus it needed an appeal that was irrespective of anything and everything.

The Inspiration

Since the briefing clearly mentioned of using a robot as the mascot for the project, Irina and he team researched and studied various sci-fi toys. They indulged in space movies and documentaries to jot down the various elements and feels that they could understand from all of this. Looking through everything related to science and man’s connections, she did gather a lot for scribbling but the real inspiration that got her into drawing what we see today was something more general and real than these movies and toys. One fine day, she notices the pictograms that are used as labels outside restrooms. Something clicked in her head and she started drawing these strip figures to create a robotic mascot. It is from those scribblings that came out a tinned torso and antennas on the head for our oh-so-loved droid mascot.

Letting the world own the logo

WHile most companies would not let anyone tamper with their branding elements, Irina went all bold on the concept of open source. She stated since the OS is open spurce, its branding Must be on the same lines. She said they need to let the world customize it for it is the people who’d spill life in the robot, as and by what they like. It was an instant hit with the online world and you saw droid bees, droid armies, android bunnies and what not. Daring and innovative; the perfect combo for a sure shot success!

Design Elements Of The Android Logo

The Shape Of the Logo

The robot that symbolizes android as their mascot in a lively green color, designed by Blok sets an example for the world to note how a playful and easily identifiable logo should be. It is carved out of very simplistic shapes. ALso, since Irina suggested of letting the logo get customized by the masses, one could not have really done that had the logo not been as easy to adapt.

The Color:

Android Green as according to the patents is a very positive color for defining the identity of a whole new cult that the world has seen. Green as is, signifies prosperity and growth adding to the fresh and minimal looks, thus getting very relatable to the generation that is their target audience.

The Font:

The typeface that has been customized to create the official font for android’s branding is the typeface called Norad.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Xbox 360 review

It doesn’t matter what game you play having zombies in the game just makes it so much better and a lot of fun. Maybe that is just the trend these days but having zombies in video games means you often times experience a lot of action and much more. If you really want to go into a zombie kill a thon then check out the games Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead.

Undead Nightmare is just one of the many awesome zombie games. If you want to Play zombie games then just do a quick research and you might be shocked as to how many you might find Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising just happen to be two out of many.

Want to know what it’s like playing Undead Nightmare on the Xbox? Hopefully this review can help you.

When you start playing Undead Nightmare you will notice almost instantly that’s it’s a tribute to the cheesy horror flicks of the B-Movie. This game also never seems to take itself very seriously. The add on to the Red Dead Redemption helps with taking the game core mechanics of the first adventure then ramping it up to combat which somehow helps with adding in a very light and delicate essence of the survival nightmare horror. This results in the game being extremely enjoyable in a lot of ways.

First the game starts with Marston plus the family and they all live in a ranch together. Suddenly, Marston’s Uncle turns into a flesh and he attacks the wife of Marston and she attacks their son and John has to try and tie up his wife to figure what all is happening. He wants to find a cure for his family.

The story continues and Marston must go thru the world that we came to know in Redemption and he meets up with some faces that are familiar to him and then he has to revisit some of his old haunts. The traditional Sandbox Rockstar Releases has a main story that ploughs thru and collects all of the diversions. However, combat in this game seems very central and towards like the battles in Left 4 Dead.

You might first notice is that there is one extra addition of when the clearing of the town invasions happens. When you start to approach settlements or either a town sometimes it might be under attack from the dead then a handful of survivors start trying to frantically stay alive. You must help them try to stay alive from the zombies and free the town that you are in which then makes it safe. Once you are able to accomplish this then you can relax and gather up a few supplies.

Sadly, one thing that I am unsure about is that there are not as many shops in the game that I would like for it to have. Therefore, you must have ammo or you won’t be able to continue shooting without it. (duh, right?) If you do run out of ammo then you will be fighting off the zombies with just a puny stick. (boring)

Nightmare does have some multiplayer modes that it added in the series alongside next to the single player mode. You might also find land grab to be a mode you enjoy because you can grab up a lot of deeds to the real estate that might be valuable and then you have to fight to keep them.

Conclusion of Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare Xbox 260 Review:

These days you can buy this game cheap and for the price it’s a great package that offers a lot of entertainment. You head back into the old west as you play this game and you might find yourself in the old west for a few hours because you’ll be having a lot of fun killing off those zombies and finding a cure for your family.

Photo by Ian Lamont / Flickr

Have you been hearing about cloud storage these days? There’s a good chance you’re going to hear about it quite frequently – especially if you work for a technology company or use tech on a daily basis for your job or personal life. For anyone still sitting on the fence about using this new technology, we have a collection of five different ways that cloud servers can save the day when it comes to storing important files and documents.

Five Ways Cloud Storage Rocks

Here’s a quick breakdown of the various ways that cloud storage can really help save the day.

  1. Scalability – One of the biggest ways that cloud storage can save the day is due to its scalability. This means that you can start with a small amount of space – and a low price – but still have the ability to quickly scale up to more space. This scalability is something that has saved quite a few companies.

  2. Low Price – Another way that cloud storage can save you – literally – is with the low prices (when compared to traditional storage technology). The cool thing is that with cloud computing you only pay for what you use.

  3. Ease of Use – Have you ever tried explaining FTP to someone? While this technology makes it relatively easy to share files and store them remotely, it’s not as easy as some of the drag and drop web interfaces that use cloud servers to store files.

  4. Mobile Use  - Something that a lot of people really like about cloud storage (like Dropbox) is the ability to use it from a mobile device. Whether it’s a tablet computer or a smartphone, it’s easy to use cloud storage while on the go.

  5. Features – Last but not least, the rate at which new features are added to cloud storage is really quick when compared with some older technologies. This ensures you’re always going to be using the best available when it comes to securely storing your files.

Reading the list above, it’s easy to see why so many people have already made the switch to cloud storage technology. This is likely to continue as it gets cheaper to store files in the cloud – not to mention more secure. If you’ve had experiences with cloud storage (good or bad), leave a comment below and let us know what you think.

When  you step back and look at the big picture, you’re going to be able to clearly see that cloud storage has saved the day for quite a few individuals and businesses. This trend is likely to continue as more and more people begin utilizing this new technology that makes the digital life a little bit easier.
